Since the beginning of time (not really) Google searches for blogs, have always dominated when people are looking for content to consume. However, this year, something changed. Podcasts have been on the rise for a while. They’ve been growing more and more popular.

Not only is podcasting becoming more popular, but it’s also surpassed blogging in Google search terms in June!

Here is a report from Google trends about Podcasts:

Pretty crazy right?

Blogging has owned the game for a long time! Let’s take a closer look.

It’s no secret that audio has been running the show for a while now. People love listening while they drive, workout, or are doing things around the house. Check out the chart below showing Google’s search terms.

Thank you Roger Montti from Search Engine Journal for putting these charts together for us.

Blogging still has its place and always will.

This post is not to discredit blogging. If you know me, you know that I love blogging. You should have both a blog and a podcast that work together to create a stronger user experience. (That’s a post for another time.)

When we get more specific with what people are searching for, it’s not just looking for the next big podcast to follow. It’s either a platform to watch a podcast people search for how to start their podcast.

Check out this trend:

People want to start their own podcasts, and I don’t blame them! With the trend and the possibility for visibility increasing an exhilarated, it’s exciting and has a lot of opportunities.

Not only do I love listening to podcasts, but I also recommend them to people regularly. I’m also a huge fan of starting your own podcast show. I believe it has a lot of great benefits.

I wanted to be part of the solution that people are looking for when it comes to starting their own podcast shows.

Because of this, I have developed a free online course. It’s called 8 Things You Need to Do Before Launching a Podcast. It covers the eight most important/most basic things that you need to do before you start your podcast.

I certainly wish I had this when I started podcasting; it would have saved me a lot of time. If you’re interested, you can enroll here, for free:

As podcasting continues to grow and develop, let’s keep it in our minds. Our social media, website’s and blog posts are all great, but, let’s keep in mind that Podcasting is something we’re going to see a lot more of in the future!
